Assignment: Food

This week's assignment was food. Although we were allowed 2 weeks to complete it, I decided to post after only 1 week. The first bundle of images were taken throughout 2008 but I really did take pics this past week too! I've marked them below.

Veggie soup and toasted hearty bread.

fresh market sushi

Seaweed for miso soup

Mini lasagnas before they hit the oven. This pic was taken during my ramekin phase. I cooked just about everything in ramekins for like a week.

mozzarella, basil, tomato

lunch

I do make a damn good beef stew

Double chocolate cookie. those didn't last long.

My mom made these for our annual cookie swap and they were quite tasty.

And here are the pics taken over the last week. I finally took my camera off of the auto setting and realized that I should have probably keep it on. I have absolutely no clue how the camera works.

Fortune cookie from this past birthday weekend celebration.

Portuguese chourico sizzling on the griddle. I could eat this for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's a staple. There's chouriço sandwiches, chouriço on the grill, chouriço in kale soup, chouriço and eggs, chouriço w/pineapple, ground chouriço, chouriço pizza, chouriço and chips...

Brussels sprouts boiling. The water kind of looks like saran wrap, weird.

Fresh brussels

More fresh brussels. I cant get enough! These suckers are awesome.

For my bday Jess and Chris gave me a beautiful new cookbook, Williams-Sonoma's Casual Dining. I adore cookbooks that have lots of pictures. And this one has a large image for each of the recipes. Last night I made the crab cakes with avocado salsa. Yes, it was everything I expected it to be and I even have leftovers. Who wants to join me for dinner tomorrow night?

Papaya juice with the crab cake in the background. I was feeling springy! Isn't it interesting how a simple slice of lime enhances the whole dining experience?

Jumpin Jays scallops.

Jumpin' Jay's mussels. This is hands down my go to meal in Portsmouth. I get it almost everytime I visit Jays. The sauce is so good that I once asked for two extra baskets of bread and a straw.

  3. These are good - you are using flash where you likely don't need it - knowing how to work your settings will correct that.

The sausage one is too blurry

  4. I used flash on the jumping jays image because it was pitch black in there. I could barely see my food. I'm not about to take a tripod out during dinner! The sausage one is blurry, but I still like it.
