Deer Street Flower Box

This past weekend I took a walk down Deer Street and noticed that quite a few of the businesses have flower boxes. Now, I've driven down this street countless times and never noticed them before. Its interesting what you see when you're on foot as oppose to when you're on four wheels or even two (I think I rode my bike down there once). The street is also the only one in town (that I'm aware of) that has flags lining it. I'm not quite sure why they're there. They're red and have the words "Deer Street" embroidered on them. Some of them (as seen in the photo above) even read "open" underneath the Deer Street. As if large windows with elaborate manicans on display aren't enough of a sign that business is open. Don't get me wrong, I like the flags. It's just strange.

So when I got home from work last night, I brought in the trash barrels and sure enough Crazy Neighbor was outside. After telling me about her latest escapades, I asked her why there were two flower boxes laying upside down on her side of the backyard. She didn't give me a good answer so I asked her if I could have them. Of course she said I could (despite her being a little on the odd side, she's nice). Before she could ask me what I was going to plant in them, I already had a thought out plan in mind. Stay tuned for pics of my "new" flower boxes.
